Pragyan rover discovers sulphur on moon

Prayan rover of Chandrayaan 3 has confirmed , the presence of sulphur in the Lunar surface

“The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) instrument onboard Chandrayaan-3 Rover

 has made the first-ever in-situ measurements on the elemental composition of the lunar surface near the south pole,” the Isro

said in its statement on Tuesday.

Apart from sulphur, the spectroscope of pragyan , a laser induced technique, was employed to find out various elements like iron , calcium, chromium, titanium, mangnese, oxygen and silicon on the lunar surface

Sulphur is a common element in the solar system, but it is rare on the Moon. So, its presence in the south pole region is thought to be a sign of the presence of water ice
