Hoag’s Object is a rare, ring-shaped galaxy located in the constellation Serpens. It’s about 612.8 million light-years away from Earth. The galaxy is roughly 120,000 light-years across and contains about eight billion stars. 

Hoag’s Object was discovered in 1950 by astronomer Arthur Hoag. Hoag identified it as either a planetary nebula or a peculiar galaxy.
