Yes, India plans to send an astronaut to the Moon by 2040. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced these ambitions on Tuesday, and also asked scientists to work on missions to Venus and Mars.

India’s space goals also include plans for a space station by 2035. Modi has “directed” the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to set up an India-crafted, indigenous space station by 2035.

India is aiming to become the second country to put humans on the lunar surface. The nation’s government said on Tuesday that India aims to put an astronaut on the lunar surface by 2040.

India’s first demonstration flight of the Crew Escape System Test Vehicle is scheduled on 21 October. The meeting evaluated the mission’s readiness, affirming its launch in 2025.

But PM Modi wants to aim higher – literally to the Moon in this case. He suggested sending an Indian astronaut to the Moon by 2040. Doing so in 17 years is feasible, especially considering the US did so in 9 with 1960s technology. But the Moon won’t be the only stop for the ISRO( source google)
