Are you thirsty? Water is more common than you think?

Water is the most common chemical molecule found throughout the entire universe. What water has going for it is that its constituents, hydrogen and oxygen, are also ridiculously common, and those two elements really enjoying bonding with each other.

Water is the most common chemical molecule in the universe. It’s also the most abundant substance on Earth, covering about 71% of the planet’s surface.

Water is made of hydrogen and oxygen, which are also very common elements. Hydrogen is the most abundant element, and oxygen is the third most abundant.

Water is the only substance that can appear as a solid, liquid, and gas within the normal range of Earth’s temperatures.

Water is also a major component of the human body, making up about 60% of the average person.

According to NASA, water is also more common on the moon than previously thought.

Water is made of hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen is by far the most abundant element, and Oxygen is the third most abundant. Number two is helium, which doesn’t react chemically, so water is really common. But just because water is cosmically plentiful, that doesn’t mean that planets are brimming with oceans

Yes, water is the most common chemical molecule in the universe

Water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen, the first and third most abundant elements in the universe. These two elements also like to bond with each other.

Water is a main constituent of many planets, moons, and comets. In space, water is usually a solid, sometimes a gas, and rarely a liquid

Water is important to the universe because it may contribute to the “missing mass” of the universe and may initiate the birth of stars

Water is also vital for life. It’s a universal solvent that provides a medium for chemical reactions to occur. It also helps maintain the shapes of cells’ inner components and outer membrane

Water is also essential for the emergence and sustenance of life on Earth. It’s necessary for prebiotic reactions and the contact of carbon molecules with rocks and minerals.

Water is also important for sustainable development, socio-economic development, energy and food production, healthy ecosystems, and human survival. It’s also at the heart of adaptation to climate change

As a polar molecule, it has specific chemical properties, like the ability to dissolve other molecules. Water has been found in other places beyond Earth, like Mars and meteorites. Because water is so universal, astrobiologists look for water on other worlds as an indicator of possible life

Finding water on other planets is important for a few reasons:

  • Life: Water is a key ingredient for life. Astrobiologists look for water on exoplanets as an indicator of life.
  • Survival: Water is necessary for drinking, breathing, and producing fuel for spacecraft and spacebase systems.
  • Resources: Water ice on the Moon and Mars could help future human explorers.
  • Exploration: Water is a geologically intriguing substance and a possible resource.
  • Habitable planets: The availability of liquid water is the most important factor that makes a planet habitable. Researchers estimate that more than a quarter of known exoplanets may have liquid water, though most would have subsurface oceans.

According to NASA, all living things need water. Scientists believe that the presence of water is the most important condition for life on other planets.

However, some say that it’s possible that life evolved on planets without water. If life did evolve without water, its biological signatures would be different from life on Earth.

According to NASA, a habitable planet is one that can sustain life for a significant period. Based on our solar system, life requires liquid water, energy, and nutrients.

According to NASA, all living things need a source of energy, a supply of organic molecules, and liquid water to survive.

Life as we know it also requires biogenic elements and a suitable, reasonably stable environment for evolution to take place.

Some other conditions required for the existence of life include:

  • A suitable range of temperatures
  • A suitable distance from the Sun
  • Protection from harmful solar radiation by a magnetic field
  • An insulating atmosphere to keep the planet warm
  • The right chemical ingredients for life, including water and carbon According to NASA, the principal habitability criteria are “extended regions of liquid water, conditions favorable for the assembly of complex organic molecules, and energy sources to sustain metabolism”.

Life is abundant on Earth, but we haven’t yet found it anywhere else in the universe. How do we search for life beyond our home planet? Scientists say we should look for three key ingredients that make life possible: liquid water, chemistry, and energy. Also, life takes time to develop
