- Robotic Mars missions NASA plans to launch a series of lower-cost missions to Mars every two years, starting as early as 2030. NASA also has other plans for Mars, including:
- Launching astronauts to Mars by the late 2030s or early 2040s
- Sending a crewed mission to orbit Mars and Venus in 2033
- Preparing for human exploration NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) probe arrived in orbit in 2006 to map the Martian terrain and weather.
NASA-funded engineers are studying a way to build potential human habitats there by producing bricks from pressurized Martian soil. The ESA has a long-term goal to send humans, but has not yet built a crewed spacecraft
