Scientists have seen such an explosion in space, which they believe to be the biggest explosion since the Big Bang. He clearly says, there is no doubt that this GRB is the brightest ever seen, hence it has been named Brightest of All Time or BOAT.

Many types of explosions occur in space. Of these, GBR or gamma ray bursts are very bright. But scientists have discovered a GBR which they believe could be the ‘biggest explosion since the Big Bang’. They are also expressing the possibility that a black hole may also be formed. This unprecedented brightness has made this discovery famous. According to Space reports, it was named “Brightest of All Time” or BOAT soon after its discovery

Based on the detection by NASA’s Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope, experts believe that it could be the result of matter and antimatter particles being destroyed at 99.9 percent of the speed of light. It was observed by the Femi and Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory on October 9, 2022. Researchers named it GRB 221009A.

“As long as we are able to detect a GRB, there is no doubt that it is a GRB,” said Wen-Fai Fong, one of BOAT’s discoverers and associate professor of physics and astronomy and leader of the Fong Group at Northwestern. GRB is the brightest ever seen”.

Experts believe that BOAT is caused by a supernova explosion, and the subsequent formation of a black hole. “A few minutes after BOAT’s explosion, Fermi’s Gamma-ray Burst Monitor recorded an unusual energy peak that caught our attention,” research leader Maria Edwige Ravasio of Radboud University said in a statement.

When I saw that signal for the first time, I got goosebumps. “Our analysis has since shown that this is the first high-confidence emission line observed in 50 years of studying GRBs.”

Team member Elizabeth Hayes, Fermi project scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, said as part of the statement, “After decades of studying these incredible cosmic explosions, we still don’t understand how these jets work. We do. Finding such clues is remarkable.

BOAT, or “brightest of all time”, is the nickname for GRB 221009A, the brightest gamma-ray burst (GRB) ever recorded by astronomers in October 2022. The explosion was more than 10 times brighter than any previous GRB and was located 2.4 billion light-years away in the constellation Sagitta

An international team of researchers, including astrophysicist Tanmoy Laskar from the University of Utah, used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to discover the explosion, or supernova, that caused the burst. They believe that the record-breaking burst was the result of a massive star collapsing and forming a black hole.

The BOAT is thought to have a unique jet structure that may explain why its afterglow was visible to astronomers for months after its discovery. The jet appears to have wide and narrow “wings” that are different from other GRBs, and astronomers were also unable to detect the emission lines of certain elements in the BOAT’s spectrum. These observations have led scientists to question whether extreme events like GRB 221009A are the primary sources of heavy elements.

Now, physicists have confirmed that the phenomenon responsible for the historic burst—dubbed the B.O.A.T. (“brightest of all time”)—is the collapse and subsequent explosion of a massive star. The team discovered the explosion, or supernova, using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST
