We are going to visit a world which is beyond our Earth. Just think… if one day we have to leave Earth and go to some other planet, is it possible?” Today we will tell you things about it which probably no one has told you before today.
The planets which are outside our Galaxy are called Exoplanets – that is, those planets which revolve around some other star outside our solar system. Like our Earth revolves around the Sun. The most important things for human life are air, water and a little warm atmosphere. Now think, if we find such planets where there is air, water, and a little heat too – can we live there?
Scientists have discovered some such planets which look exactly like Earth, scientists call them Habitable Planets – meaning where there is a possibility of living. Come, now I will tell you about some such planets where perhaps we humans can go and live.
- Proxima Centauri b – The Nearest Planet
This is our Earth’s closest cousin! Only 4.24 light-years away. That means if we go by a normal rocket, it will take about 70,000 years to reach there. This is the reason why we are not able to start a journey to this planet. But it is not impossible, scientists are thinking about how to make super-fast spacecrafts

- TRAPPIST-1e – where there is probably more water than on Earth
This planet is very similar to our Earth. Its surface is also rocky and probably it has more water. The distance is 39 light-years. That is, about 9 times more than the first one

- Kepler-186f – The first Earth-size Exoplanet
This planet is near a red star and receives very little sunlight. But still scientists believe that there may be water here and its atmosphere is such that if we migrate from Earth, we can go and live there. But this planet is about 500 light-years from Earth

4 LHS 1140 b – Planet with a strong atmosphere
This planet, about 40 light-years away, is 5.6 times heavier than Earth. And its atmosphere is so strong that it can trap heat – like a quilt keeps it warm.

- K2-18b – whose air may contain water clouds
Located about 124 light-years away, this planet has hydrogen, water and methane in its air. That means all the elements for life are present here which are also present on our Earth. We do not know much about it but if someone lives here, he can breathe like us

6 Gliese 12 b – The hot planet
The surface temperature of this planet, which is about 40 light-years away from Earth, can be around 41°C. It is like the summer days in Bhopal. Its size is similar to our planet Venus. You must remember that ancient story of India. Shukracharya had created Venus where demons looking like humans could live. In our ancient stories, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu had destroyed the oxygen from Venus, but oxygen is probably present on this planet.

Will we really be able to go to these planets?
“It is possible! Not now, but it can happen in the future. When we make a rocket that travels at the speed of light, when we have some new fuel for it. Then we can go out of our galaxy and go to other planets. Our age does not increase much while traveling in space. If we go to a nearby planet and come back, then it is possible that 100 years may pass on Earth but our age will increase by only 10 years.
