Swami Vivekananda born Narendranath datta was an Indian monk philosopher author religious teacher and the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna he was born on 12 janvary 1863 in Calcutta he has studied at Vidyasagar college

Swami Vivekananda is best known for his groundbreaking speech to the 1893 world parliament of religions in USA where he introduced Hinduism to America and called for religious tolerance and an end to fanaticism

He wished to capture the essence of Hinduism and spread it to world and also founded the Ramakrishna mission dedicated to propagating the philosophy of vedanta and yogic ideals of jnana bhakti karma and raja yoga
