Virgin Galactic plans to launch its sixth commercial spaceflight, Galactic 06, on January 26, 2024. The flight will carry four passengers, who have not yet been named.

The mission will be the company’s 11th spaceflight and will follow a year of six suborbital spaceflights in six months. Virgin Galactic’s suborbital spacecraft are air launched from beneath a carrier airplane called White Knight Two.

The launch window for the Galactic 06 mission opens on Friday (Jan. 26). Virgin Galactic’s sixth commercial spaceflight may be just around the corner. The launch window for the crewed suborbital mission, known as Galactic 06, opens on Jan. 26.

Virgin Galactic’s most recent flight, Galactic 05, launched on November 2, 2023, carrying six people, including three crew members and three passengers. The mission converted the company’s Spaceship into a suborbital space lab for research

Virgin Galactic’s previous flight, Galactic 03, launched on September 8, 2023, from Spaceport America in New Mexico.

Galactic 06 will be one of Unity’s final spaceflights, if all goes according to plan; Virgin Galactic intends to ground the vehicle to focus on developing its “Delta class” of space plane. Each Delta vehicle will be capable of flying up to twice per week, company representatives have said

Virgin Galactic announced on December 19, 2023 that its sixth commercial spaceflight, Galactic 06, will launch on January 26, 2024. The flight will carry four private astronauts, one each from Texas, California, Austria, and one with dual heritage from Ukraine and California. The astronauts’ identities have not yet been released

The flight will use an air launch system that includes the VMS Eve and VSS Unity space plane. Although the flight will not reach orbit, passengers will experience several minutes of weightlessness and views of Earth from space.

Virgin Galactic plans to retire Unity in 2024 and focus on the delta-class space plane, which is expected to begin test flights in 2025

Virgin Galactic’s spacecraft are a family of commercial spacecraft that are suborbital and orbital. The company’s goal is to provide suborbital spaceflights to space tourists

Virgin Galactic’s spacecraft are air launched from beneath a carrier airplane called White Knight Two. The carrier aircraft, VMS Eve, takes off like a regular airplane from an airport runway. In the middle of the two fuselages of the VMS Eve is a sub-orbital vehicle, a space plane called VSS Unity, or SpaceShip Two.

Virgin Galactic’s rocket motor is a hybrid system that uses a solid fuel along with a liquid oxidizer. The HRM 2000 runs off a solid hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) fuel and uses nitrous oxide as an oxidizer

The company is developing commercial spacecraft and aims to provide suborbital spaceflights to space tourists. Virgin Galactic’s suborbital spacecraft are air launched from beneath a carrier airplane known as White Knight Two. Virgin Galactic’s maiden spaceflight occurred in 2018 with its VSS Unity spaceship

Virgin Galactic is the world’s first commercial spaceline. The company’s goal is to make space travel a realistic possibility for ordinary people

Virgin Galactic’s rocket motor is the most powerful hybrid rocket motor used in crewed flight. The company’s spaceships are powered by a single hybrid rocket using solid fuel and liquid oxidizer.

Virgin Galactic’s spaceships are launched from a “mothership” aircraft with two pilots. The mothership takes off from a runway, gains high altitude, and then deploys the rocket-powered VSS Unity. The VSS Unity soars into space at nearly Mach 3 (three times the speed of sound) before gliding back to Earth.

Virgin Galactic’s spaceflights include a 90-minute journey that features a signature air launch and Mach-3 boost to space. During the flight, astronauts experience several minutes of weightlessness and views of Earth from the spaceship’s 17 windows.

Virgin Galactic’s purpose is to connect people to the wonder of space travel. The company’s mission statement is to be the “Spaceline for Earth” by using space for good while delivering a great customer experience.

Virgin Galactic’s flights also conduct research experiments. For example, the Galactic 01 mission conducted 13 experiments that examined biomedicine, thermo-fluid dynamics, and the development of sustainable materials in microgravity conditions. The Galactic 05 mission converted the spaceship into a suborbital space lab for space-based research

Virgin Galactic provides human spaceflight for private individuals and researchers. The company’s vehicles also offer a suborbital space lab for researchers, commercial industry, and governments to experiment, qualify technology, and train astronauts.

Virgin Galactic’s main sources of revenue are currently carrying payload cargo and providing engineering services. The company plans to generate the majority of its revenue from selling flight tickets to space once it launches its spaceflight services business.

Virgin Galactic also has aspirations for suborbital transport. In 2017, Branson said that Virgin Galactic was “in the best position in the world” to provide rocket-powered, point-to-point 3,000 mph (4,800 km/h) air travel.
