Everything has a place and a purpose, you told us.
A viper must be true to his creed.
The fang needs sharpening, the lethal venom a victim,
Come my beloved, lie with me today and always.
No telling if poison and ambrosia are the same,
Unless you savour them both.

We all experience transits in different ways, as well as there being a global phenomenon or collective experience. Although universally felt, transits trickle down into our individual experience in various ways and to varying degrees, as the celestial oceans flow into rivers, rivers flow into streams, and then filter into our life experience.

This can be seen by looking at transits in each person’s birth chart, but more importantly by looking at the ‘planetary cycles’ and sign progressions, i.e. the planets and signs activated in the birth chart. This article covers planetary cycles known as viṁśottarī, literally meaning ‘120’, used predominantly in Indian astrology, which divides the life into cycles over a 120-year lifespan

There are 3 levels that have an impact over longer periods.

3 Major Levels of Planetary Cycles
The first level of any cycle is the level of the soul, which lasts for many years, even decades, showing lessons, overall experiences and circumstances over a longer period. The longest cycle is that of Venus, at 20 years, while the shortest is of the Sun, 6 years.

The second level shows the level of the mind and emotions, which may last from many months to up to 3 years. This represents how we’re feeling about where we find ourselves in our life experience and circumstances, the soul lessons we are currently experiencing, as well as the people we meet to help us learn these bigger life lessons.

The third level shows how we are reacting to all the above and relates to the planet Jupiter and the ascendant. The ascendant represents how we’re applying our intelligence to above influences. The third level shows our reactions based on our emotional nature and circumstance

Astrology has multiple time periods, including zodiac months and the Jupiter cycle:

  • Zodiac months The 12 zodiac months are Aries (March 21–April 19), Taurus (April 20–May 20), Gemini (May 21–June 20), Cancer (June 21–July 22), Leo (July 23–August 22), Virgo (August 23–September 22), Libra (September 23–October 22), and Scorpio (October 23–November 21).
  • Jupiter cycle The Jupiter cycle is the time it takes for Jupiter to orbit the sun, which is about 12 years. During this cycle, Jupiter moves through each of the 12 zodiac signs, spending one year in each sign.

3 Major Levels of Planetary CyclesThe longest cycle is that of Venus, at 20 years, while the shortest is of the Sun, 6 years. The second level shows the level of the mind and emotions, which may last from many months to up to 3 years

What are cycles in astrology?

A planetary cycle is an unfoldment of planetary dynamics between two planets. The planetary cycle starts at every conjunction and follows through the sequence of aspects until the two planets eventually arrive to their next conjunction thus marking the beginning of the next cycle

Which planet controls time?

As each day is divided into 24 hours, the first hour of a day is ruled by the planet three places down in the Chaldean order from the planet ruling the first hour of the preceding day; i.e. a day with its first hour ruled by the Sun (“Sunday”) is followed by a day with its first hour ruled by the Moon (“Monday”), ..

What are the 7 life cycles?

The seven phases of life are: the good life, the fast life, the wandering and wondering life, the stages of truth, planting and planning, doing, the elder and giving back life

How life changes every 7 years?

From physiology, we know that all of our cells are replaced every seven years. The birth of the child’s life body is the result of the child’s taking hold of his or her physical body during the first seven years of life.

What happens every 7 years in astrology?

Hardcore astrologists believe there are shifts in the cosmos every seven years that can affect our lives, and that the planets Uranus and Saturn play key roles. Seven also recurs in religious beliefs including Islam, Judaism, Christianity and Gnosticism (ancient non-Christian religions

Why is 7 important in astrology?

The seventh house in astrology is also pretty important. It’s all about relationships—like friends, family, and love. People who have the number 7 might have some big moments in their relationships that change them a lot. Sometimes, these changes can help them learn more about themselves and the world

Why is 7 a divine number?

The number 7 is quite significant in the Bible, appearing over 700 times throughout both the Old and New Testaments. In biblical numerology, 7 symbolizes completion or perfection. It is said that God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th.

TIMING AND CYCLES OF YOUR LIFE

People often think they are running out of time but everything happens in cycles. I see it time and time again in astrology.

We go through personal cycles when the planets in the sky activate the planets in your birth chart. They act as a push, an opening, a release valve, etc.

Sometimes you can’t rush things even though society tells you otherwise. Sure you can do whatever you want as you absolutely have free will and it’s up to you to use your skills to create the life you want but deep inside you may not be ready for something until a certain age because that door just hasn’t opened yet…and that’s ok because it gives you an opportunity to appreciate the larger magic of life.

There are twelve astrological agescorresponding to the twelve zodiacal signs in western astrology. One cycle of the twelve astrological ages is called a Great Year, comprising 25,772 solar years, at the end of which another cycle begins

What is the 12 year cycle in astrology?

In astrology, the Jupiter cycle refers to the time it takes for the planet Jupiter to complete one full orbit around the Sun. This cycle takes approximately 12 years. Therefore, this passage involves its movement through each of the twelve signs of the zodiac, one year at a time, per sign

What is the 18 year cycle in Vedic astrology?

As per Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu have an orbital cycle of 18 years and are always 180 degrees from each other orbitally (as well as in the birth charts). This coincides with the precessional orbit of moon or the ~18-year rotational cycle of the lunar ascending and descending nodes on the earth’s ecliptic plane

What is the 72 year cycle?

Precession is the cyclic change in Earth’s rotational axis, amounting to roughly 1° every 72 years. One major effect of precession is that, at different times during the cycle, the seasons will be either more or less extreme in the northern or southern hemisphere

What is the 33 year cycle?

Answer and Explanation: The lunar-solar cyclerefers to the time it takes for the moon and sun to reach the same alignment they were when the cycle began. This takes approximately 33 years. It is a positional cycle based on the Earth’s orbit around the sun and the moon’s orbit around the Earth

What is the 5000 year cycle?

BKs believe the universe to follow an eternal, naturally occurring 5,000-year cycle, composed of four ages (yugas): the Golden Age (Satya Yuga), the Silver Age (Treta Yuga), the Copper Age (Dvapara Yuga), the Iron Age (Kali Yuga) and each represents 1250 years of the cycle.

Just as nature’s cycle drives the changes in weather conditions forming the spring-summer-autumn-winter, cycle theory in the stock markets context states that the movement in prices is governed by cyclical forces

Time cycle in Hinduism

Hindu cosmology has multiple time cycles, including the Yuga cycle, Kalpa, and a full day-night cycle of Brahma:

  • Yuga cycle Also known as chatur yuga or maha yuga, this cycle is a timeline of cosmic ages that represent the life stages of the universe. Each cycle lasts 4,320,000 years (12,000 divine years) and repeats four yugas (world ages): Krita (Satya) Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga. Each yuga is divided into a main period and two connecting periods, called yuga-sandhis. The yuga-sandhis are yuga-sandhyā (dawn) and yuga-sandhyānśa (dusk), and each lasts for 10% of the main period.
  • Kalpa Represented by 4.32 billion years, a Kalpa is made up of four yugas. The current period is Kalyug, which is the end of the cycle and will be followed by pralaya, or cosmic deluge. This will bring a new world order in place of the current one.
  • Full day-night cycle of Brahma This cycle represents the age of one universe, after which a new one begins. The day represents creation, or expansion, while the night represents destruction, or contraction. A full cycle is 2000 sets of 4.32 million years, or 8.64 billion years

Hinduism. In Hinduism, a kalpa is equal to 4.32 billion years, a “day of Brahma” (12-hour day proper) or one thousand mahayugas, measuring the duration of the world. Each kalpa is divided into 14 manvantara periods, each lasting 71 Yuga Cycles (306,720,000 years)

What does Hinduism say about time?

While Christianity and Western thought generally view time and the universe as having a point of beginning with its creation by God, Hindu thought sees the universe and time as having been going on beginninglessly (anadi). There is no notion of an absolute first creation or beginning to time.
