Dr. Pandurang, who came to attend the convocation ceremony of Lucknow University, said that India can leave everyone behind by making a quantum computer in five years because work is still going on in the world on its prototype. It will be several thousand times more powerful than existing computers.

Recalling the past, he said that India was not disappointed when America refused to provide technology.

HIGHLIGHTS Modi government started Quantum Mission to promote quantum technology. Dr. Vijay Pandurang Bhatkar is preparing microscopic particles for quantum computer.

There was a time when America had refused to give supercomputer technology to India, but the country not only made the supercomputer ‘Param’ with indigenous technology but is now on the threshold of making a quantum computer.

Father of supercomputer in the country, computer scientist and Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Pandurang Bhatkar said that India can leave everyone behind by making a quantum computer in five years, because work is still going on in the world on its prototype. It will be several thousand times more powerful than existing computers.

When America refused to provide technology Dr. Pandurang, who came to attend the convocation ceremony of Lucknow University, gave this information while discussing with journalists at Raj Bhavan on Sunday. Dr. Pandurang, who became emotional during the discussion, recalled the past and said that India was not disappointed when America refused to give technology.

When America agreed to provide the previous generation technology on certain conditions, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi took it as a challenge.

After this I got the responsibility of building a supercomputer. When the time and budget for making it were discussed, I promised to develop a supercomputer in three years. At that time the price of American supercomputer was Rs 37 crore. At this price, India has prepared both a new center and a supercomputer with indigenous technology and a team of 100 scientists.

Dr. Vijay Pandurang is preparing microscopic particles for quantum computer. Presently Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the target of developed India. The Government of India has launched the Quantum Mission to promote quantum technology. I am currently preparing microscopic particles for a quantum computer.

After its formation, we will be able to predict the weather accurately. After this, there will be revolutionary changes in every field from agriculture.

Advice to youth – spread the technology learned in America to India In response to a question on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), he said that the whole world is discussing its good and bad consequences. The limits of AI will have to be decided by human intelligence only. He advised the youth to go to America.

Learn the technology from there and expand in India. The future is better in India.

A quantum computer is a machine that uses quantum mechanics to perform calculations, and is expected to be able to solve complex problems faster than classical computers

Quantum computers use quantum bits, or qubits, to store and process information. Qubits can be in a superposition of multiple states at once, and they can also be entangled with other qubits. These properties give quantum computers the ability to perform multiple operations simultaneously, which is not possible with classical computers

Some potential applications for quantum computers include:

  • Machine learning
  • Optimization
  • Simulation of physical systems
  • Portfolio optimization in finance
  • Simulation of chemical systems
  • Development of lighter and more powerful batteries for electric cars
  • Creation of novel drugs

While quantum computers have the potential to revolutionize computing, they still face challenges related to scalability and incoherence. For most problems, classical computers will still be the most economical solution.

What is a quantum computer in simple terms?

Quantum computing is a multidisciplinary field comprising aspects of computer science, physics, and mathematics that utilizes quantum mechanics to solve complex problems faster than on classical computers. The field of quantum computing includes hardware research and application development.

What would a quantum computer do?

A quantum computer capable of achieving the quantum advantage should be able to deliver a significant, practical benefit beyond all known classical computing methods—calculating solutions in a way that is cheaper, faster or more accurate than any available classical alternatives

Why is it called a quantum computer?

Quantum computers use quantum bits, or qubits, which process information very differently. While classical bits always represent either one or zero, a qubit can be in a superposition of one and zero simultaneously until its state is measured.

Who is the father of quantum computing?

Who built the first quantum computer?

In 1998 Isaac Chuang of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Neil Gershenfeld of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Mark Kubinec of the University of California at Berkeley created the first quantum computer (2-qubit) that could be loaded with data and output a solution

Is our brain a quantum computer?

While your brain might not be a quantum computer, it might be worthwhile to describe its behavior using quantum mechanics

Which country has a quantum computer?

The U.S., China and Europe are leading the development of this technology, which uses principles of quantum physics to perform calculations and information processing and has the potential to solve complex problems

What is the rank of India in quantum computing?

ninth

A machine learning driven patent analysis study on Reclura’s patent database of patents between 2015 and 2020, indicated that India had 339 patents in quantum technologiescompared to 23,335 for China, and 8,935 for the USA. 6 China is ranked first, the USA second, and India ninth by patents published
