Scientists around the world have not been able to produce even a single drop of water till date. There is no water on countless planets in the universe, but there is no shortage of water on Earth. Have you ever wondered where so much water comes from on Earth and why this water never ends? This has been revealed in a research report conducted at the University of Göttingen. After 4 billion years of availability of water on Earth, someone, after a long research, told from where water comes on Earth. 

Professor Andreas Pack, Managing Director of the Geoscience Center of the University of Göttingen, said that scientists from the University of Göttingen and the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research – MPS have collected 14 Lunar Samples and 191 Terrestrial Measurements. After studying, some new things have been discovered. During this research it has also become clear from where water came on Earth. He told that special meteorites named Enstatite Chondrites bring water to the Earth. Water came into existence on Earth only because of Enstatite Chondrites 4 billion years ago. Enstatite Chondrites essentially resemble the isotopic composition of Earth and contain abundant water. 

What was believed before this research

The Late Venere Event theory was accepted by scientists all over the world. It was told that after the formation of the Moon, water came to Earth through meteorites and comets. Ice accumulates in these celestial bodies and when they collide with the Earth, the ice melts and turns into water and that water reaches the Earth. 

The research report has been published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The new report claims that most meteorites do not contain ice. There is only one meteorite named Enstatite Chondrites, which contains abundant amount of water. This is the reason that after 4.5 billion years, the number of us humans on Earth has increased to more than 800 crores but water never ends but sometimes increases.

  This cycle, driven by the sun’s energy, ensures that water is constantly moving and replenishing itself, preventing it from ever truly “ending.”
  Additional factors contributing to the continuity of Earth’s water:
• Groundwater: A significant portion of Earth’s water is stored underground in aquifers, providing a reservoir that slowly replenishes surface water.
• Subduction: Oceanic plates carrying water-rich sediments are subducted beneath continental plates, releasing water back into the mantle, which can then be recycled through volcanic activity.
  While the exact amount of water on Earth remains relatively constant, its distribution and availability can change over time due to factors like climate change and human activities. However, the continuous nature of the hydrological cycle ensures that Earth will always have water, making it a vital resource for life.
